His neighbor was a farmer who was poor but a happy man. He was very friendly also. Everyone liked him. Baker felt he was so rich but still the farmer seems to be so happy. One day he saw him eating. Before eating he would take a deep breath and would eat his low-quality dry bread. Baker realizes that the farmer is smelling the aroma of the bread from his shop. He noticed that farmer would do the same thing every day. He is convinced now that the farmer is smelling the aroma from his shop before eating his low-quality food. He felt his happiness is because of the aroma from his shop. The baker once a day decides to charge him. He goes to the farmer's house and hands him a bill. The farmer asks what the bill is for. Baker tells him that he is charging the farmer for smelling the aroma from his shop. Farmer laughs and asks the baker to leave. The story of a baker charging for aroma becomes popular. People would make fun of the baker for charging for aroma. Baker gets more frustrated. He decides to file the case in court. People thought that the judge would dismiss the case in the first hearing. . However to everyone's surprise judge admits the case and asks both baker and farmer to be present in the court the next day. He also asks the farmer to bring five gold coins. The next day in the court baker narrates everything. The judge listens to both and then he asks the farmer to shake the gold coins. Baker thinks that the judge is asking so that he can check if the coins are metal coins or not. The smell of metal makes the baker happy. The judge on hearing the noise of coins looks at the baker and asks him "Did you heard the noise of the coins?". "Yes, sire." Baker is very happy. He requests the judge to direct the farmer to hand over the coin. However, the judge smiles and tells the baker. "Now everything is settled." " But I have not received the coin yet." Baker is amused. Judge explains, "The farmer smelled the aroma from your shop. And he has paid it by the noise of the coins. So everything is settled." Baker realizes his mistakes.
